Computer, woo!

I’m supposed to be getting my new computer on Monday, which is freaking AMAZING.  I got my A40s back from the manufacturer, supposedly they’re fixed.  I haven’t been able to test this, because they forgot to return the USB-to-mix amp cord, which is also the power.  They just shipped it (or possibly a replacement) today.  I managed to get my Justin TV/Twitch TV account mix-up sorted out.  I just need to get that cord back for my headset, and I should hopefully be set up to start doing streams of my own!  I was wondering what people might want to see me play.  I have a rather extensive list of games on Steam.  I’ve mostly been playing Diablo 3 lately, but I started playing Skyrim a month or so ago too.  I also play Borderlands 2, of course.

On the flip side of that, I need to figure out OBS.  Like… damn.  I’ve been poking at it some, but it’s going to take me a little bit to figure it out, unless someone helps me out.  Or I could stop being lazy and go look on Google for a set-up walk through thing.  Or on youtube.  Eh.  I’ll get it sorted out.

I definitely won’t get to broadcast as much as I would like, at least not right now, because I’m effectively taking 20 credits this quarter.  Hurray! \o/

Tech

I’m apparently getting a new video card for Christmas, which is extremely fortuitous since my current one is randomly crashing and recovering (yes I tried reinstalling all the drivers).  I’d like to get a new processor and mobo too, but I don’t have the finances to support that just yet.  This is also good timing, because World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is dropping on the seventh.  I also am greatly anticipating Diablo III and Portal 2 as far as PC games.  I’ve fairly completely stopped playing on any of my consoles, which seems a pity.  I’m a bit concerned that I won’t properly be able to use the new video card since everything else on my PC is about …4 years old.

When I originally got my PC I had given some friends of mine a price cap, and asked them to build me a machine I could game on.  I believe it was a mid-range rig several years ago, but it could definitely use some improvements.  I’ve tried to do research on my own so that I would better be able to pick components for upgrades myself, but there is so much information that I tend to get a bit overwhelmed.  This makes me a bit sad, since I would really like to have a grasp on the hardware.  I figure since I love my technology so much (even though sometimes I want to stab it with a screwdriver) I ought to know more about it.  I don’t know the inner workings of any of my tech.

As a random aside, I’ve been dealing with growing pains lately.  My sleep cycle has been blown even more to hell, because I’ve been having near-agony in my legs.  I shift positions, I make little whimper/whine noises, and I’m unable to sleep.  The little bit of research I’ve done says there is no known cause, and no known cure.  I had them when I was in my pre-teens and thought I wouldn’t have to deal with them anymore.  Apparently I’m wrong.  It sucks though.  I think my pain tolerance is fairly decent and I barely can handle this.
